FAQs

Questions we get before the first meeting

What happens in a first conversation?

We talk. You describe where you stand and what you are trying to do; we describe how we work and what we would look at first. It takes about forty-five minutes, it costs nothing, and it commits you to nothing. If we are not the right fit, we will say so.

Do I need a minimum amount to work with you?

We work with a deliberately limited number of relationships so that each one gets real attention. Rather than publish a threshold, we would rather have a conversation about your situation and be straight with you about whether this is the right place for it.

How are you paid?

We primarily offer fee-based advisory* services charging a flat fee based on a client's total assets under advisement. However, if deemed appropriate and in our client's best interest, we also provide commissioned brokerage services. Though our financial advisor provides clients with great care and recommendations, advisors only have a legal fiduciary obligation to advisory clients. We will walk you through exactly what you would pay before you decide anything.

Do you really bring tax planning strategies into the plan?

Absolutely. We believe tax-related considerations should be addressed as part of a comprehensive financial planning process rather than viewed in isolation after key decisions have already been made. We work alongside your tax professionals when tax advice or tax preparation services are required. Raymond James does not provide tax or legal advice.

I live outside Nevada. Can you still work with me?

We serve clients nationwide. Raymond James financial advisors may only conduct business with residents of the states and jurisdictions for which they are properly registered, so the honest answer depends on where you are. Ask us and we will tell you straight away.

How do I check your background?

Through FINRA’s BrokerCheck, a free tool that lets you research the professional background of brokers, investment advisers and firms. There is a link to it on every page of this site.

*In a fee-based account, clients pay a quarterly fee, based on the level of assets in the account, for the services of a financial advisor as part of an advisory relationship. In deciding to pay a fee rather than commissions, clients should understand that the fee may be higher than a commission alternative during periods of lower trading. Advisory fees are in addition to the internal expenses charged by mutual funds and other investment company securities. To the extent that clients intend to hold these securities, the internal expenses should be included when evaluating the costs of a fee-based account. Clients should periodically re-evaluate whether the use of an asset-based fee continues to be appropriate in servicing their needs. A list of additional considerations, as well as the fee schedule, is available in the firm's Form ADV Part 2 as well as the client agreement. Services rendered will be dependent on applicable agreements.
